Dermal Fillers

Physician-led dermal fillers at Gambhir M.D. Restore lost volume. Soften deep folds. Lift the skin. Still completely you.

“As we age, the face slowly loses volume and lift, and that loss is often what makes us look tired or drawn. Dermal fillers gently restore it, and some fillers also help your skin build its own new collagen. The real skill is in the choices: which filler, how much, and exactly where. Those answers are different for every face, which is why we always begin with a careful conversation.”

About Dermal Fillers

As we get older, the face slowly loses volume. Fat thins, bone changes, and collagen breaks down. Cheeks flatten, under-eyes hollow, and folds deepen around the mouth. A dermal filler is a soft gel that a physician places under the skin to restore that lost volume and lift where needed. Used with an artist’s eye, filler gently lifts and rebalances the face without changing who you are. Modern hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers, such as Juvéderm are made from a substance your skin already produces. They work right away, and one of their most reassuring features is that they can be dissolved with a simple enzyme injection if needed.

Fillers come in a wide range of thicknesses and textures, and that range is what allows a result to look truly natural. It is much like painting: a fine portrait is never made with a single brush, but with many, each chosen for its place on the canvas. In the same way, the right filler, placed by a careful hand, is matched to each part of the face. Common areas include cheeks that have lost fullness, lips for subtle definition, hollows under the eyes, folds from the nose to the mouth, lines from the mouth to the chin, the chin and jawline for balance, and temples that have begun to hollow.

Every filler visit starts with a conversation. We look at your face, listen to what you would like, and review your health history. Then we plan the treatment together. Most fillers contain a small amount of numbing medicine, and we can also use numbing cream or ice for comfort. The filler is placed with a fine needle or a thin, blunt tube called a cannula. Most appointments take 15 to 30 minutes. With HA fillers, you see a change right away, though early swelling can make the area look fuller at first. The settled result shows by about two weeks and, depending on the product and area, lasts from about six months to two years.

Every face is different, and so is every filler plan. Which filler, how much, and exactly where all depend on your face, your goals, and what natural means to you. We would rather do a little and have you return than ever overfill.

With filler, the product matters far less than the hands placing it. Your treatment is performed by physicians who have placed filler since 2005, with over 60,000 filler treatments between them. We focus on the face, we know its anatomy deeply, and our goal is always restraint: enough to refresh you, never so much that you stop looking like yourself.

Botox relaxes muscles to soften lines from movement. Filler restores lost volume and smooths lines that show even when your face is still. They solve different problems, and many patients use both.

Most people feel only mild discomfort. The needle is fine, most fillers contain numbing medicine, and we can add numbing cream or ice. Lips are the most sensitive area, and we take extra care there.

With HA fillers, right away, though early swelling can make the area look fuller at first. The final result settles by about two weeks. Collagen-stimulating fillers build gradually over a few months.

It depends on the filler and the area. As a rough guide, HA filler lasts about six months to two years; lip filler fades sooner, cheek filler often lasts longer. Collagen-stimulating fillers can last two years or more.

That is our aim. A natural result comes from careful, modest placement, restoring what was lost rather than adding too much. We would rather do a little and have you return than overfill.

Very little. Most people return to their day right away. Some swelling or bruising can last a few days, so many patients plan filler two weeks or more before an important event.

Yes, if it is an HA filler. It can be dissolved with an injection of hyaluronidase. This is one reason HA fillers are so widely trusted. Collagen-stimulating fillers cannot be dissolved, so they are placed with extra caution.

In trained, experienced hands, filler has a strong safety record. The most serious risk is rare: a vascular occlusion, where filler blocks a blood vessel. It is the main reason to choose an experienced physician injector who knows facial anatomy well and can act quickly if needed.

Most are minor and brief: swelling, bruising, tenderness, redness, or small lumps that settle within about two weeks.

Filler is usually priced by the syringe, and the amount depends on your goals and your face. We will go over the plan and the cost with you before any treatment.

Filler is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or for people with certain allergies, bleeding disorders, or active skin infections. We review your health history at your consultation to be sure it is safe for you.

We will give you simple aftercare steps. Generally, avoid hard exercise, heat, and alcohol for a short time, and be gentle with the treated area. Following them helps reduce swelling and bruising.
