“Good aftercare protects your results, and your safety.”

After any treatment, the care you take in the next few hours and days matters. Following these instructions helps your skin heal well, lowers the chance of side effects, and protects the result you came in for.

After Your Treatment

  • Keep the treated area moist at all times. Apply Aquaphor multiple times a day. For lighter treatments, a moisturizing cream may be enough.
  • Keep sun exposure to none until all peeling has stopped.
  • Wait at least 72 hours before applying sunscreen (SPF).
  • Starting 24 hours after treatment, wash the treated area with an ultra-gentle cleanser twice a day.
  • If you have one, a cool-mist humidifier helps keep the area moist.
  • The area will take time to heal, as directed at your consultation.
  • For pain and swelling, you may take 800 mg of Advil every 6 hours with food, or 1000 mg of Tylenol every 6 hours with food.
  • Do not use Retin-A or glycolic acid for one month after the procedure.
  • Use ice as needed for pain and swelling. Place a cotton cloth between the ice and your skin.
  • Place a towel on your pillow at night to keep Aquaphor off your sheets.
  • Wait to wear makeup until the skin has stopped peeling and you no longer need Aquaphor.
  • Call the physician on call immediately with any concerns: [Phone].

Concealing Redness

  • Once the area has healed, redness may last a few days to a few weeks. To cover it, apply a green skin primer after moisturizing, then concealer and foundation on top.
